Taylan Thomas, Systems Administrator, is known for his calm demeaner and problem-solving skills.

Taylan, an employee of the College for almost five years, is being recognized as this month’s Terrier STAR for providing a personalized experience and inspiring environment, care and community, institutional inventiveness, and career focus. 

“He is always willing to help anyone to solve those problems we need to solve quickly. His response is always fast and very professional,” said a colleague.

Taylan’s job is to help folks across campus with technology-related issues, but it’s his thoughtful and caring personality that makes him such a great person to work with.

A faculty member shares a story about how Taylan helped him in a big way recently:

“I found out in the middle of the semester that Microsoft was no longer supporting Stream.  My online students were panicking because they could not access the videos I had recorded for the course. I wasn’t sure if I was going to have to re-record all the work, which would take hours to complete. Taylan, in his usual calm demeanor, helped me to settle down and very quickly converted the video files from three different courses to a file format that I could convert on Canvas and keep the courses intact and my students on schedule.  He saved my courses and made life much easier for my students at the same time!  He is the best and Thomas is lucky to have him here in our IT department taking good care of the faculty.”
